2 free agent cornerbacks the 49ers should still target

The San Francisco 49ers were the best team in the NFC last season and appeared to be on their way to winning Super Bowl 54. Unfortunately, they watched as Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes lead an impressive comeback to steal the championship away.

Heading into the offseason, the 49ers had an obvious need at the cornerback position. Being able to stop quarterbacks like Mahomes is a must if San Francisco wants to win a Super Bowl in the next year or two.

So far this offseason, the 49ers have been extremely quiet. They made a big trade on the first day of the free agency negotiating window being open, shipping out defensive end DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

With free agency in full swing, the 49ers should still look to get involved in the market. John Lynch doesn’t have a ton of money to work with, but he can still get something done with what he does have.

All of that being said, let’s take a look at two cornerbacks the 49ers should still target in free agency.
