2020 NFL Draft: 7-Round Post-Combine mock draft for the Rams

Round 2, Pick 52: Matthew Peart (OT, UConn)

When watching the Rams in 2019, it’s safe to say that the weakest link of the roster was the offensive line. Unlike previous years under McVay, Los Angeles never had stability in the trenches throughout the season.

At the least, Andrew Whitworth remained a bright spot as the blindside protector to Jared Goff. However, the Rams need to make it a priority to re-sign Whitworth this offseason.

Once Whitworth is brought back, Los Angeles would be wise to find his eventual replacement in this year’s draft. In light of that, selecting Matthew Peart with the No. 52 pick would be an ideal choice for the Rams.

Standing at a towering 6-foot-7, Peart was extremely smooth for his size at UConn. In addition, Peart is able to move to the second level and fits into a zone-running scheme favorably. Similar to most day two picks, Peart could favorably be a developmental project at offensive tackle behind Whitworth.
