3 early bold predictions for Broncos RB Melvin Gordon in 2020

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

One-Two Punch Will Thrive

The Broncos will be formulating a genuine one-two punch in the backfield by pairing Melvin Gordon alongside Phillip Lindsay. They will have two talented runners that are capable of getting out of the backfield as receivers.

The start of Lindsay’s career has been impressive, to say the least. He has racked up 2,048 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on 416 rushes through two seasons. Pairing a back capable of rushing for over 1,000 yards in a single-season with is very intriguing.

Additionally, Lindsay has added 437 receiving yards on 70 receptions over his first two seasons, too. He is undoubtedly not the receiving threat that Austin Ekeler was alongside Gordon, but backs are capable of contributing a bit as receiving threats.

Having two talented backs will enable the Broncos to keep both Gordon and Lindsay fresher throughout games and a full season. There is also a much greater ability to stay the course if either back were to go down with an injury and miss multiple weeks.
