Getting after the quarterback is a necessity in today’s NFL and the New York Jets are lacking in that department. Luckily for them, there are still a few viable edge rushers available in free agency.
So far in free agency, the Jets have made a concerted effort to address the offensive line, most notably signing George Fant and Connor McGovern. On the other hand, New York has lost the likes of Robby Anderson and Brandon Shell in free agency.
This past season, the Jets finished 23rd in the NFL in sacks, totaling just 35 of them as a unit in 2019. After spending money on the offensive line, New York should turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball.
As of this moment, New York possesses around $38 million in cap space, which is more than enough to pursue a formidable pass rusher in free agency. In light of that, here are three edge rushers the Jets should still target in free agency.
