The Carolina Panthers, under new head coach Matt Rhule, elected to sign Teddy Bridgewater instead of allowing Cam Newton to return. About two months after his release from the Panthers, Newton remains a free agent, looking for a new place to call home in 2020.
While this offseason has been highly unusual, Newton is realizing that finding a starting job could be a tall task. Given that, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he could accept a backup role next season, but with one caveat — it has to be for the right team.
Despite coming off of foot surgery, it’s still outlandish to see the former NFL MVP still available on the open market. Seeing the current state of the quarterback position, there should be a few teams expressing interest in him.
