The New England Patriots enter the 2020 season with plenty of questions. As the team moves on from Tom Brady, New England’s identity remains unknown.

As long as Bill Belichick holds the clipboard in New England, the Patriots can win games. However, even the legendary coach could struggle to win with his current roster.

While Brady’s departure stole the spotlight, the Patriots also said goodbye to Jamie Collins, Stephen Gostkowski, Ted Karras, and Kyle Van Noy. With so many established veterans leaving the building, New England’s performance will suffer in 2020.

Despite Belichick’s presence, the Patriots seem destined to fail this coming season. Jarrett Stidham, who appeared in three games and played 15 snaps as a rookie according to Pro Football Reference, is supposed to be the starting quarterback. The Auburn product is entering a trial by fire that he might never recover from.

Stidham faces an uphill battle for several reasons this year. His offensive supporting cast is lackluster, with Julian Edelman serving as his best weapon. Even Edelman began struggling toward the end of last season, and the 34-year-old receiver could hit a wall in 2020.

However, with the passing game up in the air, Sony Michel could see his workload increase in 2020. The third-year running back produced over 900 rushing yards in each of his first two seasons, but the Patriots need better production from the Georgia product this year.

If Michel wants to raise his game, these are three numbers he should target.
