3 reasons Kyler Murray will be better than Jimmy Garoppolo in 2020

Murray is a Running Threat

It’s not an absolute necessity to have a quarterback that can run the football at a high-level. However, it’s an attribute that can add layers to an offense and simplify the passing game for the unit as a whole, as seen in the case of the Baltimore Ravens with Lamar Jackson.

The running ability Murray provided the Cardinals ended up being quite impressive as a complement to his passing. His output of 5.85 rushing yards per attempt ranked third in the league among players with at least 50 carries, per NFL Film Room.

The 49ers do not have the luxury of benefiting from their quarterback being a running threat with Garoppolo. They don’t need him to provide that type of impact but it also limits his contributions when comparing his outlook to what Murray can provide the Cardinals.

The passing production Murray provides the Cardinals next season could end up being at least highly comparable or superior to Garoppolo’s output in 2020. Then factoring in the rushing contributions Arizona will receive, it’s easy to see the potential.
