At this point in the offseason, there aren’t many teams looking for a starting quarterback for next season. That makes it tough for guys like Cam Newton and Jameis Winston, who remain in free agency despite having prior experience as starters.
For Winston, he is coming off of the best/worst year of his career (if that makes sense) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his one and only season with Bruce Arians as his head coach, Winston threw for a career-best 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns.
While those were impressive numbers, Winston also failed to improve in his decision-making, throwing a career-worst 30 interceptions in 2019. His decision-making has been an issue for him since his college days at Florida State.
Nevertheless, the former No. 1 pick is still 26 years old and is looking to continue his career elsewhere in 2020. Seeing that there aren’t a handful of teams looking for starting quarterbacks, Winston may have to spend a year as a backup somewhere. Let’s take a dive into three teams that should take a risk on Winston.
