4 perfect defensive targets for the Colts in NFL free agency

Vonn Bell

Ahead of free agency, the Colts could choose to let Clayton Geathers walk in free agency. Over the past two seasons, Geathers has served as the team’s starting strong safety, racking up 143 tackles, four deflections, and an interception in that span.

Despite his contributions in recent seasons, the Colts could look to upgrade at strong safety. In that case, Indianapolis should consider bringing in Vonn Bell for a visit with the team.

Back in 2016, the New Orleans Saints selected Bell in the second round of the draft. Since then, he’s been a mainstay in the Saints secondary and had arguably his best season in 2019.

The Ohio State product finished the 2019 campaign with 89 tackles, five deflections, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and an interception. By signing Bell, the Colts could form a long-term duo at safety with him and Malik Hooker.
