Ahead of free agency, it remains to be seen if the Kansas City Chiefs will utilize their franchise tag on Chris Jones. If the Chiefs allow him to test the open market, the Colts need to be the first team to schedule a visit.

With a need for an interior defender and pass rusher, Jones checks the box for both of those. Throughout his four seasons in Kansas City, Jones has compiled 33 sacks, 37 tackles for loss, 72 quarterback hits, and seven forced fumbles.

From the interior, Jones is a thorn in the side of opposing offenses, wreaking havoc in the backfield. While he continues to prove he’s one of the best interior defenders in the NFL, Jones wants a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid defensive tackles.

Additionally, Jones has previous experience with Colts GM Chris Ballard when Ballard was in Kansas City’s front office in 2016. A reunion between Jones and Houston on the defensive line would be a remarkable move for the Colts this offseason.
