There are many storylines that come into play during every NFL season. One of the more intriguing is always the players that will end up taking the next step to reach stardom, particularly regarding the wide receiver position.
There were a few wide receivers that took a leap forward in their development to have a breakout 2019 campaign. The main names that come to mind start with Chris Godwin earning a Second Team All-Pro nod and Courtland Sutton making the leap to being a Pro Bowler.
Not every leap has to feature earning hardware as in the case of D.J. Chark. He wasn’t among the league’s elite receivers but he managed to experience a skyrocket in his overall production while solidifying himself as a premier deep threat in the NFL.
The 2020 NFL Draft featured a potentially historic class of wide receivers but they were exempt from this list. It’s incredibly rare for a first-year receiver to put up significant enough production to meet these criteria but that doesn’t mean they won’t reach that level in the future.
With that being said, here are five wide receivers that are poised to become stars during the upcoming 2020 season.
