Broncos bring in elite weapon for Drew Lock in new mock draft

As the Denver Broncos prepare for the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, John Elway will have the No. 15 overall pick to work with. Gone are the days of needing a franchise quarterback, as Drew Lock showed he will handle that role moving forward. Now, the Broncos need to find more talent for him to work with.

CBS Sports has released their latest mock draft and Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is the prospect they have them taking. Lamb would be an intriguing pick up and could end up being the kind of No. 1 playmaker Lock needs.

Here is the brief explanation made by CBS for why the Broncos should take Lamb with the No. 15 overall pick.

Courtland Sutton is a special talent, but with Manny Sanders gone, the Broncos need another weapon on the outside. Lamb averaged more than 20 yards per reception for Oklahoma this season and he’s one of the most dynamic players in this draft class. The offense next season would feature Sutton, Noah Fant, Phillip Lindsay, Drew Lock and Lamb.

Denver would be a great landing spot for Lamb. He would be able to come in and be the No. 2 target for the early stages of his career. Courtland Sutton has blossomed into a No. 1 receiver, while tight end Noah Fant showed some big-time talent in his rookie season in 2019.

However, for Lock to take the next step, the Broncos need to bring in more talent at wide receiver. Lamb may not be the top ranked wide receiver by many in this draft class, but he has the potential to be the best playmaker from it when everything is said and done.

Expect to see the Broncos look to add a lot of offensive firepower this offseason. If Lamb is available at No. 15 overall, Denver should pull the trigger and give Lock another young target to grow with.
