CBS Sports predicts the Saints will take Justin Jefferson at No. 24

The New Orleans Saints have been looking for some help at the wide receiver position since last year at the trade deadline. While they were unable to get anyone via trade, they will have the entire offseason to do so.

CBS Sports may have an answer for the Saints at the wide receiver position. They have predicted that New Orleans will take LSU standout wide receiver Justin Jefferson with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Saints stay local and add a downfield element to their receiver group with Jefferson, who’s fresh off a 4.43 in the 40 at the combine.

Jefferson would be a massive addition for the Saints. He would form a lethal duo with Michael Thomas and would help take the New Orleans offense to the next level.

In 2019 with the Tigers and Joe Burrow, Jefferson caught 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns. He averaged 13.9 yards per reception, which show that he is much more than a big-play receiver. Jefferson is a capable possession receiver as well.

Standing in at 6-foot-3 and just over 190 pounds, Jefferson and Thomas would give Drew Brees two big, athletic targets. New Orleans would have a lot of fun throwing the ball down the field.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what the Saints end up doing this offseason. Jefferson would make sense in the first round, but there are other holes that New Orleans will need to fill. Among them are linebacker and offensive needs.

New Orleans should still remain a very competitive football team in 2020. They should even be viewed as Super Bowl contenders, but the Saints have a lot of work to do.

Expect to see the Saints look to bring in an impact wide receiver this offseason. Jefferson could very well be the player the team has been needing.
