Fantasy Football: 3 running backs you should avoid in 2020

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

LA Rams Running Backs

We’re hedging a little bit here going with a whole backfield to avoid, but that is how unclear the Rams’ backfield is at the moment.

With Todd Gurley as a cap casualty earlier this offseason, LA goes into this year with the making of a full-blown running back by committee. Returning are Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown. If it was just the two of them, it would be an appealing situation. However, the Rams added Cam Akers to the running back room in the second round of the draft.

From a football standpoint, Sean McVay has a really nice ability to go with the hot hand with his three talented backs. But from a Fantasy Football standpoint, it is difficult to imagine one of these backs getting more than 15 touches a game or complete red-zone work.

Maybe in the preseason the backfield will get more clear as one of Henderson, Brown, or Akers looks like the main guy. But if all three stay healthy, all of them will get work. It looks to be a very frustrating backfield to trust for Fantasy Football players week-to-week.

Henderson and Akers do offer some intriguing upside, but it would be difficult to be anything more than that a flex piece until further notice.
