Although Oakland Raiders rookie back Josh Jacobs was the only rookie back to go over 1,000 yards rushing last season, no other rookie came close to Miles Sanders’ all purpose yardage. His 1,641 all purpose yards was the most by any rookie and was eighth in the entire league.
Sanders totaled 818 rushing yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry and finding the end zone three times. Through the air, he hauled in 50 catches for just over 500 yards, getting in the end zone an additional three times putting his touchdown total at six for the year.
He surged into the rookie of the year discussion with his stellar play down the stretch, but ultimately couldn’t hop over Kyler Murray for the award.
There’s no reason to think Sanders won’t be right back at it once the 2020 season rolls around. He’s already stated he believes he’s in for an MVP caliber season and he certainly has the ability to cement himself as one of the best backs in football.
