When the Green Bay Packers traded up in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to select Utah State quarterback Jordan Love, the entire NFL burst into flames. No one saw that coming with the Packers already having Aaron Rodgers under center. Add in the fact that Green Bay was one win away from the Super Bowl in 2019 to make the pick even more surprising.

Despite all of the fan and media reaction to the Love selection, the Packers’ rookie quarterback is focusing on one thing. That would be to prove Green Bay right for taking him in the first round.

In a quote shared by Omar Ruiz of the NFL Network, Love opened up about proving himself with the Packers.

There is absolutely zero question that Love has the potential to be a very special player in the NFL. However, the pick has created another Aaron Rodgers-Brett Favre situation for the Packers. That brings a lot of stress to the franchise.

Last season with Utah State, Love struggled a bit. He completed 61.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,402 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. Back in 2018, however, Love completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,567 yards, 32 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

NFL.com compared him to former Jacksonville Jaguars and current Los Angeles Rams quarterback Blake Bortles. That isn’t the most favorable comparison for a quarterback.

No matter what the current perception of Love is, the young quarterback is confident and focused on proving himself. That is exactly the kind of focus that fans in Green Bay should be excited about.

Over the next few years, Love is going to face a lot of pressure. He is the face of the future for the Packers. Thankfully, it appears that he is handling the pressure well, just like a future franchise quarterback needs to do.
