There is a real commitment from the Jaguars when it comes to making Minshew their starting quarterback for 2020. They showed this by trading Foles to the Chicago Bears and not signing a veteran free agent to provide quarterback competition.
During his 14 appearances last season, Minshew completed 60.6% of his passes resulting in 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He wildly exceeded expectations for a rookie that was taken towards the end of the draft.
Given the significant roster turnover the Jaguars have experienced in recent seasons, there appears to be a real trajectory for them to have a bad record in 2020. If Minshew struggles to perform, there is a chance he could be replaced with an elite prospect from next year’s draft.
