Baker Mayfield
The expectations were high for Baker Mayfield when he came out of Oklahoma and was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. That hasn’t changed heading into 2020. In fact, the stakes may be even higher now.
The expectations rose for Mayfield after his impressive rookie season. He completed 63.8% of his passes resulting in 3,725 yards while setting the NFL rookie record for most touchdown passes (27) within a single-season. That certainly raised the bar for him individually.
The Browns trading for Odell Beckham Jr. to pair with Jarvis Landry only intensified the pressure for Mayfield to take his game to another level in 2019. Instead, he regressed and Cleveland finished with an underwhelming 6-10 record.
There is little reason for Mayfield to not experience a bounce-back season in 2020. Cleveland replaced former head coach Freddie Kitchens with Kevin Stefanski and added talent to its offense headlined by Austin Hooper and Tristan Wirfs.
