NFL: 7 second-year players with major potential to watch in 2020

There were many promising rookies who looked like they could be future stars in 2019. This list isn’t the seven best players going into their sophomore year. This list is more about players who will have interesting storylines going into next season. For that reason, some notable names like Nick Bosa are not going to be in this list. However, all of these players on this list will be part of exciting storylines next season.

Many young quarterbacks experience a “sophomore slump”. This happens when expectations are too high, and they do not meet the expectations fans put on their shoulders. There are a few quarterbacks that could experience precisely that during this season. However, some of that may be because fans setting such a high bar for that player.

Some teams are relying on their second-year players to make the leap into stardom next season. In most cases, teams are looking for second-year players to move from situational roles into full time starters. Although many of these young players were very good as rotational players, it will be interesting to see how they adjust to the heavier workload.

While the weight of expectation can be heavy, it is important to remember many of these young players still need to develop. Some players it takes four to five years for them to unlock their full potential. Each of these players will have the responsibility to take their game up to another level this upcoming season.
