3. Matthew Stafford
If Stafford didn’t get hurt halfway through the 2019 campaign, he may have been a notch higher on this list. But unfortunately, he missed the entire second half of last season, watching his team lose every single game without him under center.
It’s a shame too, because Stafford was on his way to having a really solid season. He tossed 19 touchdowns in just eight games, that’s only two less than his total from the year before where he played in all 16 games.
Based on projections, if Stafford would’ve stayed healthy all season, he would’ve totaled approximately 38 touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards. Not to mention, his 106 passer rating before he got injured would have been a career best mark for Stafford if he held it there all season and stayed healthy.
He is only 32 years old, which is pretty young for a quarterback in today’s NFL, so he should still have some juice left in the tank. But given his injury history, it’s hard to project just how much Stafford will be able to give us in the coming years.
