The Patriots Defense Allows New England To Wallow In Mediocrity

One frightening situation for New England would be if the same dominant Patriots defense leads the team to a record somewhere between 6-10 to 8-8.

While yes, it shows that the Patriots’ defense can win them some games, it also takes them out of the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes and they will have to settle for a mid-teir rookie QB or perhaps continue developing Jarrett Stidham. In this situation, the Patriots will probably wallow around 6-10 to 9-7 for a few years.

Perhaps they will make a couple playoff pushes, but ultimately they won’t be relevant until the front office decides to fully rebuild and this formidable Patriots defense will be all for nothing.
