Patriots projected to sign WR Emmanuel Sanders in free agency

The New England Patriots are entering unknown territory this offseason. Tom Brady is set to hit free agency and it is believed that he could actually end up leaving town. If that is the case, Bill Belichick and company will be in trouble.

Brady wants to compete for more Super Bowls and the best way for the Patriots to keep him would be to bring in better weapons for him. That is where a veteran wide receiver like Emmanuel Sanders could come into play.

Pro Football Focus has made their predictions for the top free agents on the market and they have projected that Sanders will end up signing with the Patriots this offseason in free agency.

With Amari Cooper and A.J. Green likely to return to their respective teams, domino number two to woo Brady back to New England is signing veteran receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

New England would love to make a splash signing like Amari Cooper or A.J. Green. Unfortunately, as the quote suggests, both players are expected to stick with their current teams.

Sanders is one of the more intriguing players available on the market. At 32 years old, he will be looking to sign with a contender. New England can certainly offer that assuming Brady returns as well.

Last season split between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, Sanders caught 66 passes for 869 yards and five touchdowns. He put up those numbers with a much smaller role than he would have with the Patriots.

Expect to hear the Patriots connected to quite a few offensive weapons this offseason. Sanders would make a lot of sense and could be a piece that helps keep Brady around for at least one more season.
