REPORT: ‘No chance’ the Lions take Tua Tagovailoa in the 2020 NFL Draft

The Detroit Lions currently hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. At this point in time, no one truly knows what direction they will choose to go with the pick. Many think Ohio State standout cornerback Jeff Okudah will be the pick, while others are predicting a trade down or possibly even a quarterback for the future.

While there have been some rumors about the Lions taking a look at Tua Tagovailoa with the selection, that does not appear to be the case.

According to ESPN’s Matthew Berry, there is “no chance” the Lions take Tagovailoa at No. 3 overall.

There is no chance the Lions take Tua Tagovailoa in the draft, a source I highly trust told me. No chance.

Matthew Stafford has been mentioned in trade rumors for a good chunk of the offseason so far. However, the Lions have vehemently denied that they are looking to move him. It is possible that Stafford wants out of Detroit though.

It would make sense for the Lions to consider a quarterback in the NFL Draft, but not with the No. 3 pick. They could also wait until the second round where they could target someone like Jake Fromm or Jacob Eason if they are still available.

Tagovailoa has been receiving a ton of hype in the top-five over the last week or two. Lately, he has been connected most to the Washington Redskins with the No. 2 pick. If the Redskins were to pass on Ohio State star pass rusher Chase Young to take Tagovailoa, the Lions would pounce on the chance to get Young.

All of that being said, it is going to be a very interesting offseason for the Lions. One thing that fans should not be expecting though, is for the Lions to spend the No. 3 pick on Tagovailoa.
