Report: ‘No traction’ to Cowboys trading for Jets S Jamal Adams

The latest set of trade rumors involving New York Jets safety Jamal Adams have surfaced after his unmet desire for a contract extension. Naturally, the Dallas Cowboys were quickly linked to Adams as a potential landing spot.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, currently there ‘isn’t any traction’ to the possibility of the Cowboys trading for Adams. It appears he will need to wait for an extension from New York if he wants to remain with the organization.

There has been a need for the Cowboys to land a high-level safety for years and that makes them a natural landing spot for Adams if he were to be traded. While Dallas addressed a variety of different needs earlier in the offseason, they did not manage to land a dynamic talent at this spot.

What makes Adams so appealing is his versatility. He has a rare ability to rush the passer in addition to being able to help stop the run and cover a variety of different spots, particularly tight ends. His skill-set makes it easier to neutralize potential matchup problems while adding layers to a defense.

The Cowboys are looking to win the NFC East in 2020 after narrowly losing the division crown to the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Making a play for a talent like Adams would be the type of move that would maximize their chances of accomplishing those efforts.

If the Jets do end up choosing to trade Adams down the road, there is no shortage of teams that should try trading for him. The Cowboys are certainly one of those teams.
