The Seattle Seahawks came up short of advancing to the NFC Championship Game after losing 28-23 to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. A critical component in the team’s success was rookie wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.
The production Metcalf provided the Seahawks during his rookie campaign was impressive to see. During his 16 regular season performances, he managed to total 58 receptions, 900 yards, and seven touchdowns.
The playoffs featured a truly incredible level of impact from Metcalf. He racked up 11 receptions, 219 yards, and one touchdown during the Seahawks’ two post-season games, which set a new playoff rookie record for receiving yards.
It was a busy offseason for the Seahawks adding more talent to its offense between the additions of Greg Olson, Carlos Hyde, and Phillip Dorsett. There are still questions facing Seattle’s offensive line but regardless, they appear improved.
For a team with Super Bowl aspirations, the Seahawks will need Metcalf to elevate his game from the foundation he had established as a rookie. That will be regardless of whether Seattle ends up signing a risky veteran like Antonio Brown or Josh Gordon down the line.
Taking all of that into consideration, let’s take a look at what to expect from D.K. Metcalf during the upcoming 2020 season.
