Sports Illustrated predicts the Packers will trade up in the NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers are going to be an interesting team to keep an eye on this offseason. Rumors have been swirling that they are going to pursue standout tight end Austin Hooper, linebacker Cory Littleton, and possibly even a wide receiver. Other rumors have them focusing on the NFL Draft to fill a lot of their voids.

Sports Illustrated thinks the Packers are going to be very aggressive in the 2020 NFL Draft. In their latest mock draft, they have predicted that the Packers will trade up three picks with the Seattle Seahawks to No. 27 overall in order to snag Oklahoma standout linebacker Kenneth Murray.

Blake Martinez is set to become a free agent and Murray would more than fill the void. A tackling machine for the Sooners, Murray plays with sideline-to-sideline range and a non-stop motor to make him an impact linebacker in the middle of the Packers defense.

In order to move up with the Seahawks, the Packers would have to give up the No. 30 and No. 94 overall picks in the draft. It would be a move worth making if they could pick up a talent like Murray.

Murray put together a massive 2019 season with the Sooners. He racked up 102 tackles to go along with four sacks and four defended passes. Everyone has been talking about the athleticism and speed that he brings to the field and Green Bay needs all of it.

Blake Martinez was a sure tackler, but he had trouble making plays from sideline to sideline. Murray would be able to bring the same kind of tackling ability, but he could make any play a linebacker needs to make.

Expect to see the Packers show a ton of interest in Murray in the NFL Draft. Whether they move up to get him or not, he would be a perfect fit in Green Bay.
