The pros and cons of the Panthers sticking with Cam Newton

Much has been made this offseason on what the Carolina Panthers could do with Cam Newton. After taking some time to consider their options, the Panthers have apparently chosen to move forward with Newton as their starting quarterback.

The dynamic quarterback dealt with a foot injury in 2019 and was only able to start in two games. Due to the severity of the injury, Newton underwent surgery and he’s hoping to return to football activities as soon as possible.

With no definitive timetable for his return in place, Matt Rhule — the Panthers’ new head coach — is confident in Newton’s recovery thus far. As a result, Carolina seems content with allowing Newton to finish his contract next season.

There are definitely positives and negatives that can stem from keeping Newton in 2020. In light of that, here are the pros and cons of the Panthers sticking with Newton.
