Vikings could target LSU WR Justin Jefferson in the NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings have had an interesting offseason so far, especially when it came to star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. He had stirred up rumors of wanting to be traded since before the NFL trade deadline last season. Finally, the Vikings ended up sending him to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a lot of draft capital.

Now, the Vikings will need to find a way to replace him. That is easier said than done, but thankfully there is a ton of wide receiver talent in the 2020 NFL Draft.

One name that could be of interest to the Vikings would be LSU standout wide receiver Justin Jefferson. CBS Sports certainly thinks he would be a good fit for Minnesota, as they have projected them to take him at No. 25 overall.

Stefon Diggs is now in Buffalo and Jefferson was a monster out of the slot last season for LSU. He would quickly become a favorite target of Kirk Cousins in Minnesota.

Jefferson could come in and be an immediate starter alongside star wideout Adam Thielen. He was a stud with LSU alongside likely No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow.

During the 2019 season with the Tigers, Jefferson caught 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns. He showed the ability to make big plays and be a possession wideout. The Vikings need a guy like that for franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Thielen is capable of being a true superstar as he showed back in 2018. While he is going to put up big numbers, he will need someone who can take some pressure off of him. Jefferson would force opposing defenses to stay honest.

The Vikings now hold two first-round picks at No. 22 and No. 25. If Jefferson is available at No. 25, it would not be shocking to see Minnesota take him. Other names to watch could be Denzel Mims and Henry Ruggs III.

Expect to see the Vikings pursue a wide receiver in the NFL Draft this year. Jefferson may not end up in Minnesota, but he would be a great fit should they choose to take him.
