Another reason that pursuing Ruggs would make sense for the Raiders would be the fact that they need to give Derek Carr a fighting chance. Just a couple short years ago, Carr was considered one of the NFL’s top up-and-coming talents at the quarterback position.

Unfortunately, injuries and consistency problems have taken that title away from him. He is still viewed as talented, but he is no longer viewed as a rising star.

Ruggs would give Carr a guy who he can air the ball out too. He would also give the Raiders a playmaker who can get the ball in open space and make plays. That could help Carr turn things around and get back to being the team’s obvious franchise quarterback.
