1 Insane Stat To Note For Eagles’ Lane Johnson Over Last 2 Years

The Philadelphia Eagles have found a lot of success this season on the offensive side of the ball. They are currently fourth in the league in offensive yardage and third in scoring as they have one of the most prolific units in the NFL.

What has helped make the Eagles such a dangerous team is the development of Jalen Hurts as a passer. Philadelphia has always found success on the ground running the ball, aided by Hurts being more dangerous with his legs than his arm early in his career. He has become a threat throwing the ball this season, which has made things easier for the team overall.

Another integral part of every good offensive unit is a strong offensive line. The Eagles have above-average players at every position on their offensive line, including some stars at their given position. Center Jason Kelce remains among the best in the business along with right tackle Lane Johnson.

Johnson was selected No. 4 overall by the Eagles in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma and he has certainly lived up to the lofty expectations that come along with being selected that high. Despite battling some injuries throughout his career, Johnson has remained one of the best right tackles in the NFL.

He clears out space in the running game, but the most impressive thing about Johnson’s skill set is his pass-blocking ability. According to PFF, it has been over two calendar years since Johnson has allowed a sack.

Week 11 of 2020 against the Cleveland Browns was the last time that Johnson allowed a sack. That is a stretch of 24 consecutive games and counting as Johnson appeared in 13 games last season and 11 thus far in 2022. That game against the Browns in 2020 was his last appearance of the season before he went down with an injury.

Having that level of performance at the right tackle position makes game planning much easier for head coach Nick Sirianni. Knowing that Johnson will hold up regardless of who he is matched up against provides him the opportunity to send help to other areas of the offensive line that may be facing a difficult pass rusher.

Hopefully, Johnson can remain healthy as he is one of the most important players on the roster this season. So far so good in that regard, as Johnson has missed at least one game in six consecutive seasons coming into this one. He hasn’t played a full season since 2015 when he started all 16 games.
