1 Move The Buffalo Bills Should Still Make Before Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills came up short of their goal of winning the Super Bowl last season. They remain in a position to be one of the true contenders for the Lombardi Trophy this upcoming season as they still have a top-flight roster.

But, even the best teams could use some more help on the roster. While Buffalo has no glaring weaknesses on the roster, adding some more depth at a few spots certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Depending on who you ask, a few different answers could pop up about what position that is they need to address. Some people would say it is on offense, as the team didn’t add the wide receiver help behind Stefon Diggs that they sought.

Running back could be an option as well after Devin Singletary departed in free agency and the team added Damien Harris and Latavius Murray to help replace him. Those two will be joining holdovers Nyheim Hines and James Cook for touches in the backfield.

Alas, adding offensive weapons likely isn’t atop the team’s to-do list. After all, the Bills did finish second in the NFL in points scored and yardage gained in 2022. Instead, the one move that the team needs to make before training camp in the opinion of David Kenyon of Bleacher Report is signing another defensive tackle.

The interior of the defensive line is a spot that the Bills have been very active at this offseason. Poona Ford was signed in free agency while Jordan Phillips signed an extension and Tim Settle had his contract re-worked. Ed Oliver remains on the roster as well, but this is a position that could look really different in 2024.

All four players are playing on expiring deals. Phillips and Settle struggled in 2022 and Oliver could be seeking a massive deal as he is wrapping up his rookie contract. Without a player being drafted at the position, adding some more depth is important.

Bringing in a veteran will not only help the Bills for this season but could be someone that the team opts to keep longer term for some continuity. With the linebacker position undergoing changes with Tremaine Edmunds moving on in free agency, shoring things up at defensive tackle would help make that transition a little easier.
