The Cleveland Browns have gotten off to a 2-2 start this season, most recently falling to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 28-3 this past weekend.
Of course, the Browns were without quarterback Deshaun Watson, who missed the game with a shoulder injury. When Watson is healthy, Cleveland looks like a definite contender in the AFC North, so the Browns may certainly be buyers ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
If there is one area in which Cleveland needs help, it’s along the club’s offensive line, as injuries and poor performance across the board have been an issue in the trenches for the Browns in the early going.
The good news is that there should be multiple offensive linemen available for trade in the coming weeks, including Denver Broncos tackle Garett Bolles.
Bolles expressed his displeasure with the Broncos following their Week 3 blowout loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins, and while Denver rebounded with a win over the Chicago Bears last Sunday, it seems pretty clear that the team isn’t going anywhere this season.
Plus, Bolles seems tired of the losing culture that has seemed to develop in the Mile High City since he entered the league as a first-round pick of the franchise in 2017.
Bolles has never made any Pro Bowls, but he remains a very solid tackle. He has another year left on his deal at $20 million after this season, so if the Browns do swing a trade for him, they would have him beyond 2023.
Bolles is 31 years old and he missed most of last season due to a broken leg, so he may not command a heavy price tag in terms of a trade package.
The Broncos seems likely to sell off some pieces over the next several weeks, and Bolles is a prime candidate to be moved. Should Denver put him on the trade block, Cleveland should immediately place a call to the Broncos.
