1 Realistic Trade Target For The Philadelphia Eagles Entering Week 5

The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-0 and appear well on their way to winning another NFC East division title and making it to a second straight Super Bowl.

However, in spite of their record, it is very clear that the Eagles have some issues.

Philadelphia’s defense, which was one of the NFL’s best last year, ranks just 16th in the league. Its pass defense in particular has been abysmal, ranking 27th. Additionally, the club’s aerial attack hasn’t been great, placing 13th.

Fortunately, the Eagles have some time between now and the Oct. 31 trade deadline to make some moves and improve the roster.

The question is, what realistic moves can the Eagles actually make?

One potential target could be Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker.

I know what you may be thinking. “That’s not very realistic.” But is that true?

The Cardinals are 1-3 and appeared headed toward another rebuild. They are slated to have a nice chunk of cap space going into free agency, and they may have to find another quarterback, as Kyler Murray—who is currently recovering from a torn ACL—may have worn out his welcome in the desert.

Taking all of that into consideration, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Arizona could look to move Baker within the next few weeks.

Baker is on the injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury at the moment, but he is expected back later this season. He has another year left on his deal, so potential trade suitors can rest easy knowing he wouldn’t just be a rental for a few games. Baker will turn 28 in January, so you have to question just how much he factors into the Cardinals’ future.

The Eagles are in desperate need of a safety, as evidenced by their low pass defense ranking. Baker, a five-time Pro Bowler, would certainly shore up their secondary, and Philly may be willing to part with a substantial package in order to reel him in in the club’s quest for a championship.

Don’t be surprised if the Birds check in on Baker to see where the Cardinals stand with him.
