2 Crazy Stats To Note For Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Through 13 Weeks

Part of the reason that the Minnesota Vikings have found so much success on the offensive side of the ball this season has been because of wide receiver Justin Jefferson. In just his third season in the NFL, Jefferson has already cemented his status as one of the best players in the NFL at his position.

The LSU product has rewritten the record books as he is the most productive wide receiver in the first three seasons of a career in NFL history. Despite having five games remaining in Year 3, Jefferson already owns the record for most receiving yards and most 100+ yard games through the first three seasons of a career and he is going to put some major distance between himself and second place, Hall of Famer, Randy Moss.

While he has cooled off from the record-setting pace that he was one earlier in the season, as he was projected to break the single-season receiving yardage record, he is still having a monster campaign. Through 12 games, Jefferson has 88 receptions for 1,277 yards and six touchdowns.

He is well on his way to another All-Pro nomination and Pro Bowl selection, providing highlight plays weekly. While his raw statistics are impressive, when taking a deeper dive, you see just how impressive his performance has been this season.

Sometimes a quarterback will throw a pass despite a receiver not being open, fully trusting that his player will come down with the ball. Kirk Cousins likely has all of the trust in the world in Jefferson, who according to PFF, is the best contested target receiver in the NFL. On contested targets, Jefferson has 19 catches and a grade of 94, both of which are first in the league.

There are some receivers in the league that can get bumped off of their routes by physical corners. Jefferson is not one of those players, evident by how dominant he is in contested catch situations.

Even with a receiver draped all over him, Justin Jefferson is going to find a way to make the play. Just ask the Buffalo Bills about that, as his one-handed, 32-yard catch on 4th-and-18 kept the Vikings alive to eventually pull off the miraculous come-from-behind victory.
