After a solid five year run with the Atlanta Falcons, defensive end Vic Beasley Jr. will hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Falcons announced earlier this week that they will not engage in contract negotiations with the 27-year-old pass rusher, leaving Beasley free to go where ever he pleases once free agency rolls around.
There will be a handful of teams vying for Beasley’s services. After his All-Pro 2016 season in which he recorded 15.5 sacks, he had a bit of a drop off in the following two seasons until hitting a resurgence this past year, as he led his team in sacks with eight.
Getting after the quarterback is the name of the game for modern NFL defenses, so Beasley will certainly garner a lot of attention on the open market.
Out of all the teams around the league who will be in the market for a pass rusher, no team could use Beasley more than the Miami Dolphins.
Here’s two huge reasons why the Dolphins should be Beasley’s top pursuer this offseason.
OMG. Have you honestly watched a single game of Falcons football the last 5 years? Beasley is horrible. $12-15 million for 8 sacks. He hasn’t learned a single pass rush move in five years. He should be looking at the veterans minimum.
