2 huge reasons the Bears should sign Greg Olsen in free agency

1. The Bears should allow Olsen to finish his career where it all started

Some may not know that Olsen actually began his career in the NFL in Chicago. The Bears selected Olsen with the 31st overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft out of Miami.

Of course, Olsen spent the majority of his career (nine seasons) with the Panthers. But before signing with Carolina, the New Jersey native called Chicago his home for four years.

When Olsen played for the Bears, he combined for 194 catches, 1,981 yards, and 20 touchdowns over the four seasons he played for them. Now, the Bears have a chance to bring Olsen back to where it all started.

Most players that played for multiple teams tend to choose to retire with the team that they began their career with. While Olsen will likely retire as a member of the Panthers, the Bears can still allow some closure for the fans in Chicago by bringing him back.

Seeing that Olsen is turning 35-years-old in March, it’s likely that he’ll retire after the 2020 season. Given that, this is a chance for the Bears to better their team while also bringing a fan favorite back to the city.
