Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson played well last season. Heck, he walked away as the NFL MVP. But he didn’t do it alone. While he was blasted for his arm, Jackson won games the only way he knew how, and that was by playing football his way. But here’s the one piece to the puzzle that many have forgotten or even overlooked when discussing the success of the Ravens and Jackson. A majority of what he was able to do would not have been possible without the success of a dominant ground game. Thanks to Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards, Jacskon was given the freedom to be himself.
This is what the Dolphins should be thinking here. If they are to grab Tagovailoa, then he’s built with the same intangibles as Jackson. A great runner but Tau does have a better arm than Jackson. With Tua and Melvin Gordon in the backfield, the Dolphins will pose the same issues for defenses in which the Ravens did in 2019. And better yet, Gordon is a better receiver than Ingram which the Dolphins and Tua can use as a security blanket for a team still searching for an offensive identify and doing what they must to protect a rookie signal-caller.
