The Packers Need Williams’ Veteran Leadership
First up, the Packers need the veteran leadership that Williams brings to the field. He isn’t the most talented player on the field anymore and he isn’t going to shut down opposing wide receivers, but he can play solid football with the experience and IQ that he has from his time in the NFL.
Green Bay has three very young cornerbacks in Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, and Josh Jackson. They may have a ton of talent, but they need veteran leadership and to learn from players who have been where they currently are.
Williams provides that and he is familiar with Mike Pettine’s system. The Packers saw him come through and make a difference in 2019 and they should bring him back on a one-year deal to keep doing exactly what he was doing.
