The Patriots Would Have the Best Backfield in Football

The trio of James White, Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead is very solid, and no one would really argue that they need to add a back to that mix. But, when someone of Melvin Gordon’s caliber is on the open market, exceptions are made. He would instantly be the most talented and versatile back of the bunch and he would undoubtedly make this the best backfield in the NFL.

The value of running backs has gotten lower and lower throughout the years. The true value in running backs is what they can bring in the passing game. Gordon has proved to be a very efficient receiver out of the backfield during his career, averaging nearly 48 receptions per year over the last four seasons.

James White has solidified his position as the receiving back for New England, but imagine all the favorable matchups McDaniels could scheme up with Gordon at his disposal as well.

Utilizing this plethora of running backs could eventually lead to another championship in New England.
