Anthony Harris, Safety, Minnesota Vikings
Among the needs for the Browns this offseason, near the top of the list is the safety position. Both Damarious Randall and Eric Murray are set to become unrestricted free agents for Cleveland at the safety position.
Given that, the Browns are going to have to either retain or replace Randall at free safety. As it currently stands, it doesn’t appear that much progress has been made with Randall in terms of an extension.
On the other hand, Murray is a depth option for the Browns that could return for a cheaper price than Randall. To bolster their free safety position, the Browns should target Anthony Harris from the Vikings.
Over the past couple of seasons, Harris has quietly turn into one of the best playmaking safeties in the NFL. Just this past season, Harris was tied for the league-lead with six interceptions.
With Harris set to turn 29-years-old in June, it’s likely he doesn’t command an unaffordable amount of money in free agency. Therefore, why not replace Randall with a better player in 2020?
Additionally, Stefanski is familiar with Harris when he was the offensive coordinator in Minnesota. The rookie head coach understands just how good Harris can be on the backend of a defense.
