2 players the New England Patriots should try to trade for this offseason

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE, O.J. Howard

According to reports, the Patriots already inquired about trading for tight end O.J. Howard this past season, but the Buccaneers turned them down.

The Patriots ended up landing wideout Mohamed Sanu at the trade deadline, but don’t be surprised if the Pats get on the phone with Tampa again this offseason.

Howard has underachieved ever since entering the NFL as a first-round selection three years ago. Last season, some believed Howard would pop in his third season with the Bucs. Unfortunately for Howard and Tampa Bay, he actually regressed in production, leading many to speculate if he’s even worth keeping around.

A change of scenery could be just what the doctor ordered for Howard. He clearly has the talent to be a very productive tight end in the NFL, he just hasn’t been able to put it all together. Not to mention, he hasn’t had great quarterback play in Tampa either.

Going to New England where there’s a clear standard of excellence, along with Tom Brady as his quarterback, should help revitalize his career.

He’s still on his rookie deal as well, so he won’t cost much if the Pats are able to acquire him.
