2 reasons Devin Funchess could be a sneaky free agency target for the Jets

Funchess will be a cheap option in free agency

After a solid four-year tenure with the Carolina Panthers, Funchess signed with the Indianapolis Colts last offseason. But, after starting just one game for the team, Funchess suffered a fractured clavicle and missed the remainder of the season.

Now he finds himself back on the open market with a lot to prove.

Given how last year played out, Funchess won’t have much leverage in contract negotiations during free agency. He’ll likely have to settle for another one-year deal and earn a long-term contract with his play in 2020.

This motivation could lead to a very productive season for Funchess if he’s in the right offense. The Jets will be in desperate need for a wide receiver this offseason, so Funchess will more than likely be on their radar.
