2 reasons the Browns should target Anthony Harris in free agency

Browns would be better off adding a proven veteran

While some fans might think it is best for the Browns to draft a safety, signing one would be the optimal plan. Barring an unforeseen change of events, Cleveland isn’t going to be selecting a safety in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

As of this moment, Xavier McKinney and Grant Delpit are regarded as the top two safeties in this year’s draft. After those two are off the board in the first round, there are a few safeties that could be on Cleveland’s radar on day two or three of the draft.

Instead of taking a risk in the draft, the Browns should add Harris to provide some assurance on the backend of the defense. Also, it would give Cleveland a much-needed veteran in a young secondary.

Rather than draft someone that may or may not pan out, the Browns could sign a player that has proven to be a potential star in the NFL for two straight seasons. With the Browns having $65 million in cap space, they can afford to make Harris one of the cornerstones of their defense for years to come.
