2 reasons the Chargers should target Jake Fromm at No. 37 in the NFL Draft

They Have Bridge Options At Quarterback

Besides Brady and perhaps Newton, the Chargers have an incumbent veteran who can be a bridge quarterback to a young signal caller. Tyrod Taylor will be in the final year of his two-year deal in 2020, and it’s easy to forget he was solid in three seasons as the Buffalo Bills’ starter from 2015-2017. So while drafting a quarterback this year will be a top priority for general manager Tom Telesco, said rookie does not have to be rushed onto the field with the veteran options who will be available.

Fromm comes with big game experience having played in the SEC, but he may not be a Day 1 starter in the NFL. The Chargers can take him in the second round and cultivate his development for a year before turning he keys over to him, not unlike what happened with Rivers when they still had Drew Brees all those years ago.
