1. The Eagles desperately need wide receivers
Regardless if it’s Shenault or someone else, the Eagles desperately need pass-catchers to help Wentz and the offense. Again, Ward—a quarterback-turned-receiver—became Philadelphia’s No. 1 receiver in Week 17.
As good as Ward performed, the Eagles still would benefit by adding a couple of wide receivers in the offseason. The Eagles can’t rely on Jackson and Jeffery to remain healthy for all 16 games this late in their careers.
Plus, Agholor is almost inevitably going to be headed elsewhere in free agency. That leaves Philadelphia barren at the wide receiver position.
Among the wide receivers that the Eagles could add, Shenault checks all of the boxes. He is is a strong, physical wide receiver with great hands and excels with the ball in his hands.
With Doug Pederson being an offensive-minded coach, he understands the demand for wide receivers in today’s NFL. From now until the 2020 NFL Draft, the Eagles should be directing their attention to Shenault with the No. 21 pick in the first round.
