The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft is completed and some teams can say they were more successful than others. Similar to most drafts, there were some surprises that caused some of the coveted prospects to fall later in the first round than expected.
Of course, the teams early in the first round got the guys they wanted, with Joe Burrow going to the Cincinnati Bengals, Chase Young to the Washington Redskins, and Jeffrey Okudah to the Detroit Lions. Then, after the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers went quarterbacks in back-to-back picks, things got a bit interesting — just as expected.
There was definitely a fair share of teams that may have reached for a player in the first round. On the other hand, there were a handful of teams that maneuvered the first round remarkably.
For the sake of this article, we’ll avoid listing any of the teams that were on the clock earlier in the first round. Taking that into consideration, let’s take a look at three teams that knocked the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of the park.
