2020 NFL Draft: Why the Cowboys can’t afford to pass on Grant Delpit

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Heath is an impending free agent

The Cowboys have had a need at safety for plenty of years. But while the team has needed a safety, Jeff Heath has been the team’s most reliable safety.

Heath is a feel-good story as he fought his way from Saginaw Valley State to being an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys. Then, in his fifth season in the NFL, he’d finally become Dallas’ full-time starter at strong safety.

After spending three years as the Cowboys strong safety, Heath is set to hit free agency. Therefore, this is the perfect time for Dallas to find his replacement in the secondary.

There’s no doubt that Delpit would finally give Dallas a much-needed playmaker on their defense. The Cowboys can no longer wait to miss out on the opportunity of adding a talent like Delpit to the defense.
