2021 NFL Free Agency: 4 early targets the Lions should be monitoring

Cardinals, Patrick Peterson

Patrick Peterson

Patrick Peterson is one of the most well respected corners in the game. He is still playing at an excellent level, and would be a fantastic mentor to rookie corner Jeff Okudah.

Both Peterson and Okudah have very good size and are known for their ability to break on the football. Bringing in Petterson would be a smart signing for a team in need of a little veteran leadership in the secondary.

Peterson may be a bit older now, but he is still a valuable corner. While last season may have been one of his worst years, Peterson was still an above-average corner. He also was serving a suspension through a chunk of the season.

Peterson could be in for a bounce-back year in 2020 and Detroit should monitor him very closely. If Peterson struggles again, they should still sign him just to a much cheaper deal. However, if he does return to form, he could get a contract similar to that of Richard Sherman with the 49ers. Much of it would be incentive-based and if he performs well, he gets paid like a top-level corner.
