2021 NFL Free Agency: 4 early targets the Vikings should be monitoring

Jalen Ramsey, Rams

Jalen Ramsey, Los Angeles Rams

The Vikings would need to make a ton of roster moves and cuts to make this happen. However, Jalen Ramsey in purple and gold in the Mike Zimmer defense would be a ton of fun.

While the Rams gave up two first-round picks for the lockdown corner, they have yet to reach an agreement on an extension. There is a good possibility Ramsey wants to test his value on the open market. It is likely Ramsey will ask to be the leagues highest-paid corner, and barring an atrocious 2020 campaign, that is well deserved.

The Vikings are going to have to restructure a few contracts. They may lose either Dalvin Cook or Anthony Harris. While the Rams’ defense has two of the games best, there are holes at other defensive positions. Those holes limit the defenses potential.

However, the Vikings’ defense is already very well-rounded. A shutdown corner likely can’t single-handedly carry a defense. But, putting Ramsey on an already talented defense like Minnesota could make the Vikings the type of defense that could carry a team to the Super Bowl.

The price for Ramsey would be very high. But if it could lead to a Super Bowl, the price will be worth it. Signing Ramsey to the Vikings’ defense could make them Super Bowl favorites. Ramsey has the ability to take almost any receiver out of the game.

While he wasn’t as spectacular last year on the Rams as he was previously with the Jaguars, Ramsey at his worst is still a top five corner.
