2021 NFL Free Agency: 4 early targets Washington should already be watching

The Washington Football Team is once again in rebuild mode. While they have been one of the weaker NFC teams for a handful of season, there is hope.

Last season was another disappointing one for Washington–ending with a 3-13 record. There were some key positives, though. Dwayne Haskins had a strong finish to his rookie campaign and Terry McLaurin emerged as a surprising star at receiver. Washington’s front office still needs to surround Haskins with more weapons in the offense.

It was a busy offseason for Washington headlined by them bringing in a great leader in Ron Rivera at head coach after moving on from Jay Gruden. It certainly didn’t hurt to be able to use the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to select Chase Young–one of the best edge rush prospects in recent memory.

There is lots of potential for Washinton’s defense when considering how talented of a defensive line they now field. However, their linebacking corps still has holes that need to be addressed. They could benefit from adding a linebacker that can thrive in pass coverage and another that can play a hybrid role.

Washington has a bright future and a lot of cap space next offseason to add talent. While they may not be ready to contend for a Super Bowl yet, a strong free agency could be the push that they need. Their defense is reminiscent of the San Francisco 49ers but needs some additional pieces to get to that level.

With that being said, there are four early targets Washington should already be watching ahead of 2021 NFL free agency.
